This weeks Extreme Home Designs features the Skaterboarder Dream House. I decided to choose skateboarding as our concept for this weeks home because I used to skate when I was younger. I started skating at the age of 13 when I played my first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game for the PS1. My parents bought me a skateboard and for the next 5 years it's pretty much all I did. I would go around visiting various skate spots and skateparks all around Miami. I really wanted to be a pro skater one day. I would look up to skaters like Mike Mo Capaldi, Ryan Scheckler, and Daewon Song. I really thought I was going to make it big. Unfortuantly Miami was not the best place to skateboard so due to the places to go out and skate, my dream died. I still always kept the idea of a skateboard house in my mind, and after all these years I decided to bring it to life! so here it is; the Skateboarder Dream House.

Normally we think of someone having a piece of their house dedicated to their hobby. But what if their whole house was designed around their hobby instead,

in this case skateboarding?

In order to keep the house open and have as much space as possible for ramps as possible, all the structure was placed in the middle of the house. Space could then be carved out of the core such as the kitchen on the ground level. Because the house has 3 floors, an elevator was included in the center of the core adjacent to the main stairs of the house. The main idea with the ground level was to have an open area where the Skater could hang out with guests, and skate around in the halfpipe, pyramid box, and quarter pipes.

Not sure if the second level is my favorite;

There is a huge quarter pipe attached to the wall for wall rides; two ramps for transfering over the stairs, and a death gap made up of two kickers. If you mess that trick up you’re falling 15 down to the ground.

The bedroom and the entertainment room along with bathrooms are located on the third floor. The third floor also a combination of half pipes, quarters pipes, spines, and railes leading to a curved ramp that leads to the second floor of the house. It was designed in order to give the skater a nice flow and allow them to spend as much time on their skateboard as possible.

The coolest feature of the house is also located on the third floor and that is a smaller version of the mega ramp. This is a 30 foot quarter pipe that leads to a jump over the pool and into a half pipe. Let’s try it out!

When you’re done skateing , you can take a dip in your very own private pool and watch your friends try to olly over you in the mini mega ramp.
