10 place cells (hippocampal, dorsal CA1) wirelessly co-recorded as a rat forages for randomly scattered food in a large (~2m square) enclosure.
Recorded by Roddy Grieves and Eleonore Duvelle in the lab of Professor Kate Jeffery, University College London. This animal was implanted by Eleonore Duvelle.

The animal's path is traced as a faint grey line, the activity of 10 different place cells is plotted on top of this as coloured markers (one colour per cell). The video speed increases with time in order to compress 50 minutes of coverage into a short video. The video ends by showing the false colour, maximum normalised firing rate of all 10 cells and then the convex hull of the upper 50% of this firing (as a rough estimate of place field position).
These cells were recorded across 6 different tetrodes and were chosen based on the position of their fields. Many additional cells were co-recorded but are not shown here.
