1986 Circuit of Ireland Rally

Описание: The 1986 Circuit of Ireland saw a huge influx of Group B 4WD Supercars amongst the Entry which included Hannu Mikkola Audi Quattro,Mikael Sundstrom Peugeot 205 T16,Mark Lovell and Kalle Grundel in Ford RS 200`s and Metro 6R4`s for Jimmy McRae,Dai Llewellin,and Harri Toivonen,the 2WD Brigade was strong as well with Russell Brookes and Austin McHale in Opel Manta 400`s and Billy Coleman and Saeed Alhajri in Rothmans Porsche 911`s,the Rally was a tough 5 Day affair with many of the fancied Group B entrants falling by the wayside,after winning in Galway comfortably Billy Coleman had no luck this time with Punctures followed by a small off which was followed by a bigger excursion on the last night which ended his Rally,in the end Austin Mchale ended up Top Irish Competitor in 3rd place with Llewellin winning by over 8 min from Russell Brookes in the end,the 4WD machinery was superior especially when the changable weather conditions like what was encountered prevailed and 2WD just wasn`t capable of matching the Group B Supercars od the day,in the end Mark Lovell was 4th overall after a troubled Event with Pentti Airikkala winning Group A and slotting into 5th place in his Astra GTE ahead of Simon Davison who had a good run in his Nissan 240RS,again we thank Pat Sullivan Carrignavar fro supplying the RTE/UTV Production highlights and do enjoy.
