Last Thursday, Svitzer Australia proudly hosted the official naming ceremony for the world's first TRAnsverse 3200 tugs in Newcastle - Svitzer Barrington and Svitzer Nobbys.
Continuing a proud maritime tradition, the vessels were officially named by their Naming Mothers, Captain Jeanine Drummond for Svitzer Barrington, and Lauren Munro for Svitzer Nobbys - an honour that symbolises the close connection between our people, our vessels, and the communities we serve.
These groundbreaking tugs have been servicing the Port of Newcastle over the last few months, with the Svitzer Barrington recently completing her 100th job. Designed in collaboration with Robert Allan Ltd., these vessels continue to prove they're the 'swiss army knife' of tugs - with the ability to operate in complex operating contexts, with all ship types and sizes in challenging weather and tidal conditions.
