Описание: Hello! This is a showcase of the Dark Temple Mission 1, "A Fork in the Dark Road", in which we have to capture 5 Sunflora and then fight the level boss, the Reigning Red Bee-header, Vespiquen!


As this serves as a walkthrough and guide, I will be splitting this description into chapters. These are: TIMESTAMPS, BEST POKEASSISTS, LEVEL BREAKDOWN, ENEMY AI BREAKDOWN, BOSS AI BREAKDOWN, and SHOULD YOU GRIND THIS?.

-- BEST POKEASSISTS --
(note: Assist Lv should always be at recommended level, while Recovery and Power are less important)

Vespiquen poses a massive threat to our assist unlike anything thus far. The Rage Phase is the biggest roadblock in the whole level, as you can only rely on your assist, which is constantly being aimed at. The Composure Phase is also tanky and problematic.

Luxio is the best option because his stun effect shortens the window for him to get hit. Donphan is great because it takes advantage of Vespiquen’s fast movement and can stop it from attacking, as well as being a good future investment. Pidgeot does a significant amount of damage but isn’t recommended for following levels and is prone to getting hit.

In order of what I recommend:
1ST: Luxio w/ [Assist Lv 5] [Recovery Lv 4, Power Lv 4]
2ND: Donphan w/ [Assist Lv 5] [Recovery Lv 5, Power Lv 5]
3RD: Pidgeot w/ [Assist Lv 4-5] [Recovery Lv 4, Power Lv 4]

-- LEVEL BREAKDOWN --
GOAL: The level forks into a left giant Pokemon path and a right Combee path. You can only bridge and explore both by traversing the right path. Plus, the right path is just more rewarding with time extensions.
OPTIMAL ROUTE:
- - Move through the right path, breaking every chest to find time extensions.
- - When you get to the bridge room, go to the left path, hit the Sunflora switch, and tightly make the corner (next to an angry Pokemon) to get the time extension on the side.
- - Then, make the corner again, fight the Sunflora, and go to the room below (still on left). Explore until you get the time extension, then return to the right path and complete the level.

Like all Dark Temple levels, hard level, hard boss.

-- ENEMY AI BREAKDOWN --
Many enemies follow this pattern:
Move a few times. Use the ! attack.
SOMETIMES: Move a teeny amount. Use the ! attack again.
Move again.
Move to middle (use assist here!). Use the !! attack.
Move a teeny amount. Use the !!! attack.
Pause (use assist here!), then start over.

Combee follows this pattern. Swampert and Venusaur will attack in the same sequence, with different movements.

-- BOSS AI BREAKDOWN --
Vespiquen is a boss with 3 phases.
(NOTE: aimed = aimed at styler/assist)

Regular Phase (0%-50%):
Vespiquen attacks in a pattern, which is as follows:
(1❗): Shoots stings forward. (Use assist here!)
Moves in a loop.
SOMETIMES (1❗): Shoots stings aimed.
Moves to middle.
(2❗): Shoots stings forward (can assist here); keeps shooting while flying in 2 loops.
Moves randomly 3 times, then repeats the pattern.

Rage Phase (starts at 50%):
Vespiquen attacks in a pattern, which is as follows.
Moves to middle.
(3❗): 3-twister aimed.
(2❗): Shoots stings aimed; SOMETIMES: keeps shooting while flying in 1 loop.
SOMETIMES: Moves once, then (1❗): Shoots stings forward.
Moves once, then (4❗): Begins puddle phase:
- - 7 poison puddles appear at random spots. During this time, Vespiquen won’t move, but (1❗): Shoots stings either forward or aimed (seemingly random), 1-3 times.
- - If you’re using Luxio, you can assist immediately after the ! attack (they can’t switch up the direction WHILE shooting). Otherwise, it’s ONLY safe to assist when the 7th puddle spawns (there’s no way to know the next position, so yeah). (Don’t risk losing your assist! You need it to progress!)
Moves around randomly and may do (3❗): 3-twister aimed and/or (1❗): Shoots stings aimed.
Repeats the pattern.



Composure Phase (50%-100%):
Vespiquen attacks in a pattern, which is as follows:
Moves to the middle.
(3❗): 3-twister aimed.
(2❗): Shoots stings aimed; keeps shooting while flying in 2 loops. (Use assist here!)
SOMETIMES: Moves once, then (1❗): Shoots stings forward.
Moves once, then (4❗): Begins puddle phase:
- - A random amount of poison puddles appear at random spots. During this time, Vespiquen won’t move, but (3❗): Shoots 3-twisters either forward or aimed (seemingly random), 1-3 times.
- - You can maybe assist after a 3-twister. Mixed results.
Moves around randomly and may do some aimed attacks.
Repeats the pattern.

-- SHOULD YOU GRIND THIS? --
Yes! The boss is tedious and you’ll likely C-rank it, BUT it’s the easiest Dark Temple level and gives you an absurd AP reward compared to the last grind spot, Metagross.
