Описание:
Olga of Kiev (c. 890-925–969) became regent after her husband Igor was assassinated in 945 and plotted an epic revenge: she had envoys buried alive, others burned in a bathhouse, got 5,000 Drevlians drunk and killed them during a feast, and then set fire to Iskorosten by tying torches to pigeons. With her son Sviatoslav’s rule secured, she traveled to Constantinople in 957, was baptized as Helena, and outwitted the emperor who tried to marry her. As the first Christian ruler of Kievan Rus, she was later canonized; her feast day is July 11.
