My Top 42 of Helsinki 2007 - ESC in rewind

Описание: The 52nd Eurovision Song Contest was held in Helsinki after Lordi from Finland won the previous edition.

Eurovision 2007 of course has a special place in my heart, since that’s the only time my country has got the chance to host this magical event. Unfortunately I was too young to care, but now I can say I’m pretty proud of my country! It was the best organized edition ever at that time.

The production was on a very high level. No major technical issues, only some camera fails. Beautiful stage. Helsinki had the perfect infrastructure to host the event - not too small, yet not too big. Perfect venue to host this event. A quite weird logo, but still nice in action. I loved the graphics. It really represented the Finnish art. The postcards are the one thing I’m maybe most ashamed of. They were not funny even though that was the purpose and they seemed quite unprofessional.

The hosts did a really good job. The script was average. It wasn’t funny, but not awkward, so better that way if you aren’t funny. The idea of Krisse was nice, but she maybe was a little too much and didn’t have a script to work with. The interval acts in the semi-final were just weird and produced just cause they seemed very “eurovisiony” at the time. The interval acts in the final were lit though! The inserts were okay I guess.

Musically it was one of the weirdest years ever, but I love it! A huge diversity. Some of the songs complete crap but most of them really good. I think I’m in the minority who thinks 2007 is a really good year. The results were horrible though, but that’s not our fault. If the current system would’ve been used, the results would have been a lot better. The televoters misjudged many of the quality acts, but they were a little too artistic for the viewers. Juries would’ve elevated countries like Hungary, Germany, Cyprus and Iceland and with two semi-finals Andorra and Iceland would’ve qualified. The winner was obvious though.
