The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a collection of infrastructure projects currently underway in Pakistan, valued at an estimated $62 billion. The initiative aims to significantly boost Pakistan's economy by modernizing its infrastructure, including advanced transportation networks, energy developments, and special economic zones.
Launched in 2015, CPEC is the flagship project of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which President Xi Jinping has called the "project of the century." The BRI is set to deliver approximately $5 trillion in investments across the infrastructure of 52 countries, including Pakistan.
Although CPEC is still in its early stages, it has already contributed to improving Pakistan's global competitiveness.
