The DUI breath tests used if the "preliminary alcohol screening" or PAS test. The PAS is the handheld breath test that police often give at the side of the road, prior to arresting you.
In California law, the preliminary alcohol screening is optional and we advise people who get stopped for DUI not to agree to take it.
