Описание: In the 1990s, there was a significant increase in exports in the Tiruppur area; however, the existing infrastructure and basic amenities were insufficient to support the rapid growth of a city like Tiruppur. As a result, the local population advocated for the establishment of a separate corporation and district to meet their aspirations.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister acknowledged the concerns of both the residents and industrialists during the inauguration of the Tiruppur municipal corporation, expressing agreement that a new district would be created in the near future. Following this, the Hon’ble Finance Minister announced in the assembly that a distinct Tiruppur District would be established.

Consequently, the government issued G.O.Ms.No.617 and 618 from the Revenue [R.A.1(1)] Department on 24.10.2008, aimed at bringing district administration closer to the populace and addressing the needs of industrialists by reorganizing the existing Coimbatore and Erode Districts into Coimbatore, Erode, and Tiruppur Districts. The new district was officially inaugurated on 22.02.2009 by the Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development.
