It’s the final ride for longtime Walsh Jesuit baseball coach Chris Kaczmar.
At the conclusion of the 2022 high school baseball season, the 52-year-old will step away following a legendary coaching career.
Before Kaczmar officially retires, his team hopes to win him one more state championship which would give the head coach a total of five. Kaczmar’s coaching resume is difficult to top in terms of Ohio high school baseball history. Over 600 wins, four state titles, seven regional titles, 15 district championships and 21 sectional crowns.
Heading into the OHSAA Playoffs, the Warriors are ranked No. 5 in the state of Ohio in Division I.
Walsh Jesuit has already begun their playoff run with a decisive 16-0 victory over Madison. The Warriors play their second round game against Akron Ellet on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
Kaczmar admits it’s just time to step away. His son Henry, a star shortstop on the team, will play next season at Michigan. Kaczmar wants to be able to focus on being able to watch his son and enjoy more family time and other things he’s always wanted to do.It’s the final ride for longtime Walsh Jesuit baseball coach Chris Kaczmar.
