WASHINGTON (WCIV) — U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham said Friday that he supports President Donald Trump’s continued use of tariffs on national security grounds, despite a Supreme Court ruling limiting the administration’s authority under a key emergency powers law.
In a 6-3 decision, the court addressed the scope of the president’s tariff authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The court’s ruling found tariffs that Trump imposed under an emergency powers law were unconstitutional, including the sweeping “reciprocal” tariffs he levied on nearly every other country.
