The Miser and His Gold
A Kids’ Motivational Story
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a miserly man named Raghav. He was very rich, but also very greedy. He loved his gold more than anything else in the world. He never helped the poor, never shared with his neighbors, and never spent a single coin on himself.
Raghav kept all his gold hidden in a secret place. Every night, after everyone in the village had gone to sleep, he would go to a lonely spot near a big old tree and dig up his pot of gold. He would count the gold coins again and again, smiling proudly. After that, he would bury the gold and return home happily.
One night, a thief noticed Raghav going to the same place again and again. Curious, the thief followed him quietly and watched as Raghav dug up the pot of gold. When Raghav left, the thief quickly dug up the pot and stole all the gold.
The next day, Raghav came to check on his treasure. When he found the pot empty, he began to cry loudly. He beat his chest and shouted in sorrow, “My gold! My precious gold is gone!”
Hearing his cries, a kind neighbor came and asked, “Why are you so upset?”
Raghav replied, “I have lost all my gold. My life is ruined!”
The neighbor thought for a moment and said gently, “Why are you so sad? You never used your gold, never shared it, and never enjoyed it. It made no difference whether the gold was in the ground or gone. Just put a stone in the pot and imagine it is gold.”
Raghav was shocked. He suddenly realized the truth. His gold had brought him no happiness at all because he never used it for good.
From that day on, Raghav changed his ways. He learned that wealth is useful only when it is shared and used wisely. He began helping others and found true happiness in kindness.
Moral of the Story:
Wealth is valuable only when it is used to do good. Greed brings no happiness.
