During Covid 19 lockdown I built a flat water canoe paddle out of scrap timber. Although I made a few mistakes, the end product looks amazing!
Let's hope it floats.
Tips:
Before laminating the boards, mill the shaft to be square, which is then much easer to keep smooth and straight using the router.
Ensure the shaft is going to be at lest 50% Oregon or lightweight timber,
Include a hardwood core to maintain strength.
Leave the clamps on until all the glue has dried (oops!!)
Create the desired handle "shape" before glueing it on.
A spoke shave is worth its weight in gold for this kind of project.
