Though terrifying in form, these fierce deities are not external beings. They are the dynamic display of one’s own Rikpa — the pure nature of mind. Guru Rinpoche instructs: Do not fear them. Recognize them as your own awareness.

If recognized, one becomes non-dual with the Herukas and attains enlightenment. If not recognized, fear and karmic projections transform these visions into nightmares, leading to further rebirth in the six realms.

This teaching reminds us:
What appears after death is the projection of our own mind — just like dreams.
Peaceful and wrathful forms are the union of emptiness and clarity.

Recognize your true nature, and liberation is immediate.
