SAPS' Eastern Cape District Commissioner General Norman Modishana has confirmed that six suspects have been killed during a shootout with the members of the national task team and taxi violence unit on the R61 in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
General Modishana says the suspects were linked to several crimes, including extortion and murder.
Police recovered four pistols that were in the suspect's possession.
