Early in the morning, at eight o’clock, we met at Pai Adventures, a small outdoor office tucked away in the lush green hills of northern Thailand. After loading the gear, we drove for about two hours by truck through mountains and jungle until we reached the Soppong Wildlife Sanctuary, where the Khong River awaited us.
After a short safety briefing, the real adventure began: about 35 to 45 kilometers of rafting through untouched nature. The journey took around five to six hours, passing 15 rapids that ranged from gentle currents to wild white water. Along the way, the river offered breathtaking views of rocky cliffs, waterfalls, and dense rainforest.
At midday, we stopped for lunch by the riverbank, enjoying fresh fruit and rice dishes while monkeys called in the distance. Afterwards, we continued downstream, finally reaching Mae Hong Son in the late afternoon.
