Liverpool Stanley Docks Exploration

Описание: Opened in 1848, Stanley Dock sits on the River Mersey just North of Liverpool city centre. Standing at 125ft tall, the 14 storey Tobacco Warehouse spans across 36 acres (150,000 m2) with its construction using 27 million bricks, 30,000 panes of glass and 8,000 tons of steel. It's the largest brick warehouse in the world. The dock complex would've been an essential hive of activity in Liverpool's heyday with ships arriving from every corner of the British Empire carrying rum, tobacco, tea and many other goods.

Sadly, with the decline of trade going through Liverpool, the docks fell in to disuse and gradually, during the 1980s, disrepair. The Rum warehouse has now been converted into the Titanic Hotel, whilst the Tobacco Warehouse continues to sit eerily quiet, derelict and forgotten, still imposing itself on the city skyline and host to a wealth of intriguing relics from the past.

The basement of the Tobacco warehouse was used as a morgue for American Soldiers during WWII whilst the rest of the building has been a home for squatters, as well as being used by Liverpool gangs for illegal activities including the disposing of bodies.
In recent times, the docks have also been a filming location for the Guy Rithcie Sherlock Holmes film, Hollywood blockbuster Captain America and BBC hit TV show Peaky Blinders
