A marriage is valid if it meets the pillars and requirements of marriage. The pillars of marriage are as follows: The parties performing the marriage contract are the groom and the bride. The contract (sighat) is a statement made by the woman's guardian or representative (ijab) and accepted by the man or his representative (kabul). The presence of the prospective wife's guardian. The presence of two witnesses.
