As we celebrate the Jubilee Year, the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ is indeed a fitting one for Ireland’s International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine. Knock has always been a place of hope and consolation. The message of hope of the Knock Apparition continues to reveal itself every day, through the pilgrims who are drawn to this unique place.
The first pilgrims began to visit Knock in the weeks following the Apparition in 1879. By their continuing presence at Knock Shrine, today’s pilgrims follow in the footsteps of those who have come here before them and light the path for those who will follow them in the years to come. The message of Knock is as relevant in our 21st century world as it was in 1879.
