Hi, I'm Neil Peterson with LED Lighting Supply.

Today I'm going to talk about 30 by 40 pole barns or shops and the lighting requirements for those.

We get a lot of requests from customers to light their shops.

Pole barns you know 30 by 40 feet is a pretty regular size What really varies is your height.

We see them anywhere from ten to 18 feet.

You know there are a lot of different fixtures you can use.

The lower the height, the lower the wattage fixture you're going to want to use, the higher the height, you know, the higher wattage you going to use but not too high.

You're almost sometimes better to use more fixtures and get a much more uniform light level.

It also gets back to what you're doing there.

So a 30 by 40 shop, 16 feet tall, you probably could use six of our 100
watt UFOs and that's going to give you 50 to 60 foot candles, which is great for working on vehicles, doing woodworking, doing all sorts of projects like that.

You also have the ability to hook them up to a dimmer in that environment if you want to, to dim the light down in case you don't want that much light at times.

But usually we don't find dimmers being used in more commercial environments.

You know, more homeowner with a large shop dimming could make sense, but you do have to use a licensed electrician.

So we have lots of options.
