My 7 year old son made me a beautiful drawing so I wanted to put it in a nice frame. I used oak for the main part of the frame and Olive for the splines.
The spline making jig I made for this project works great. Only downside is that all of my blades have a concave kerf but it makes decent splines.
The other improvement I would make next time is a more contrasting wood for the splines. Olive wood is beautiful but the contrast whit the oiled Oak isn't great enough and the small part shown of the Olive doesn't do justice to the beautiful grain.
But hey, you learn as you do it!
