21. Not Like the Train Set

Описание: Luthor and his crew prepare to fire the kryptonite cylinder from the yacht, while back at the Daily Planet Clark and Richard try to hack into Lois' email. Lois writes a note while Lex's henchman Brutus plays with her son and Luthor's other minions fire the kryptonite cylinder into the ocean; Brutus catches Lois attempting to fax a rescue note and attacks her while her terrified son watches from the piano. Just as Lois seems about to be killed, the piano-hurled by the super-powered boy-kills the henchman. In the aftermath Lex's remaining minions find Lois and the boy and lock them in a pantry. Ottman begins to open up the scope of his score with a pulsing, high-pitched, scale- like ostinato on strings and brass, echoing the movement of the oceans around the yacht and the preparations to launch the kryptonite cylinder. Luthor's theme sounds triumphantly as the crystals begin to disturb the water underneath the yacht, and Ottman adds a sly in-joke as low piano chords rumble while Luthor's henchman Brutus threatens Lois, unaware that he's about to suffer death-by-piano. Ottman returns to his regretful, somber Lois/ Superman relationship music as Lois stares at her son in the aftermath of the henchman's death.
