Do You Fertilize Evergreen Lawns In Winter?

My favorite off-season fertilizer is Soil Fit which blends together both Synthetic fertilizers with plant-sourced fertilizers for both fast-acting and residual growth.

For a pure plant-based fertilizer then my go-to is Anderson's Innova which derives all of its nutrient load from Soybean Meal.

The third fertilizer I'd consider for use in the winter would be one of Lawnbright's newest products, Turf Star which is a 22-0-0. It does use urea so make sure soil temps are above 50 degrees when using this product.

I like it because it uses methylene urea which has a longer or delayed effect on the lawn and is ultra-low on the salt index. The product also contains extra humic acid, amino acids, and some kelp extract for improved rooting and rhizome growth.

The last main fertilizer I would consider using this time of year would be Lawnbox's Green Genie product which uses a mixture of Soybean meal and OMRI listed water soluble Sodium Nitrate for it's Nitrogen sources.

This product will stimulate the lawn quickly with the sodium nitrate and then have a delayed residual effect from the soybean meal. It's a very effective combination.

For the cheapest option possible then you can't go wrong with applying small doses of straight generic ammonium sulfate. It's a purely synthetic fertilizer, water soluble and it works in cool soils.
