Livestream of the Astronomy on Tap Charlottesville event on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Astronomy on Tap is a night of FREE astronomy talks and trivia targeted at a general audience, all organized by professional astronomers at UVA and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
This livestream will feature accessible, engaging presentations on space and science topics ranging from planets to black holes to galaxies to the beginning of the Universe. The event will also have trivia, games, prizes, music, and other surprises!
Presenters are typically from local research and educational institutions, but we also host visitor speakers with various backgrounds and roles as scientists, educators, artists, and more. There is always plenty of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably tag along for the fun.
Talks:
1️⃣ What is the Radio Spectrum and Why Does it Need Protection? - by Chris De Pree (NRAO)
2️⃣ A Cosmic Broadcast: Massive Stars on Every Channel - by Anna Dignan (UVA Astronomy)
3️⃣ How to Make a Planet - by Aashish Gupta (UVA Astronomy)
Short Q+A sessions will follow each talk.
