My roadman character ‘Eyeman T’ wants to make some P (make some money in British Pound Sterling) teaching people the Multicultural London English dialect (also known as “roadman” or “street”). He unveils his ‘Road to Roadman Initiative’ and shows us some video clips of his students talking “street” in all their various accents.

Translation for slang words used in this video:


Wagwan: a typical Jamaican greeting equivalent to "whats going on?" or "whats up?"

Ends: area/territory/ghetto

Cotching/Jamming: relaxing/chilling

Feds: police

Jacked: stolen

Shanked: stabbed

Jooked: stabbed

Ching: to stab

Flicky: flick knife

Yute: Jamaican slang for youth, young person or child

Innit: isn't it

Man/Mans: I, you or them

Galdem: used to describe a female or group of females

Blud//fam/cuz/bruv/brudda: man, dude, homie, mate, friend or foe etc

Famalam: close friend

Buff/peng/chung: sexy (male of female)

Rah: wow/an expression of surprise or approval

Chirpsing/chirps: flirt/flirting/chatting up/hitting on etc

Swear Down: I swear/seriously/I'm being honest

Bare: really/very/a lot/large quantity or size etc

Clocked/clock: realised/figured out/noticed

Ting: thing

Block/on the block: on the housing estate/flats/projects/ghetto residence/apartments etc

Mandem: used to describe a male or group of males or friends

Badman: tough roadman

Hard: tough

G: gangster/cool

Don: tough and a boss/high level gangster roadman

Long ting: long thing - something tedious that takes a long time

Bun/bun that: to dismiss something/to smoke weed

Hyped: excited/enthusiastic/active

Butters: butt ugly/unattractive

Sket: slut, whore, bitch, overly promiscuous woman

Beef: fight/fighting

*kmt*: kiss my teeth, a "mtchew" kind of sound produced by doing just that, used to display frustration or a distasteful attitude towards something or someone

Ops: rivals

Pussyhole: an insult that pretty much usually means what it says on the tin. It is used in the same way as just calling someone a pussy.

Shook: afraid/frighted/scared etc

Allow/allow it/allow that/allow me: leave alone/don't hurt/don't go through with it/have mercy etc

You dun know: done already known used as a conformation of something/excitement/celebration or to gloat

Mumzy: mum/mom/mother

Sick: good/great/amazing/highly skilled at something

Peak: bad/unpleasant

Brap: a kind of imitation of a gun shot that is used an expression of excitement or celebration

Bang: have sex/beat up

Chatting shit: insulting/talking nonsense/telling lies

Gassing/gas: lying/misleading/being dishonest

Gassed up: excited/hyperactive

Bars: lyrics

Vexed: Angry

Sly: sneaky

Next: random

Next man: random guy/unimportant

Parred: insulted/humiliated

Merked: defeated/humiliated

Wasteman: a worthless/useless person

Ghosted: disappeared

Bait: suspicious/obvious

Ducked out: retreated/ran away/got away

Put corn in clips: load a gun

Screwfacing: giving a dirty look

Moist: lame

Garms: garments/clothes

Creps: trainers/sneakers/footwear

Battyboi/battyman: gay or feminine man

Drilla: a roadman/gang member who uses guns

Gats: guns

Lick off your head top: shoot you in the head

Link/linking: non committed sexual communication

Gash: vagina

Pecknam: Peckham - a South London district within the London Borough of Southwark

Yard: house/flat/home

Pen: prison

Live: exciting/eventful/fun

Hench: big/strong/muscly

Sparked: punched

Swag: crap/poorly skilled

Swaggar: confidence

Nang: old slang word for cool

Backoff: sexy bum

Bossman: person who owns and/or serves customers in a shop/restaurant/ establishment

Set me: give me/can I have?

Safe: friendly/thanks/goodbye
