An experienced Acura mechanic would do this easily under 4 minutes. Southview Acura in Edmonton quoted $110 labour to do this. That is equivalent to billing $1,650 per hour. AND they also charge $15.68 "shop charges" on top, plus tax. AND they also make about $100 markup on the parts!

To clarify, I don't mind at all taking vehicles to shop for good quality work at a reasonable price. But most dealers and other shops these days have pricing models (ie: 'book rate') that work out to absolute blatant rip-offs - like this one.

I have the written quote from Southview Acura to replace these two filters for total of $294.11! I did it myself (with Acura factory engine air filter and aftermarket premium quality cabin filter) in six minutes for a total cost of $70.94. I saved $223.17 by not taking it to Southview Acura.
