Today is a solo adventure for me as I travel to the west side of Tokyo, deep into the raw country and arrive at the small town of Okutama.
Okutama is a very small town with a population less than 5,000 at the time of writing. You can see signs of activity in the past by way of abandoned buildings, businesses and railways. However, I didn't come here to explore abandoned things, I came because Okutama is a great starting place for many hiking and trekking routes and it is a day trip from Tokyo city.
The specific route that I take is "Mukashi Michi" which means a road from long ago and it runs alongside an abandoned railway line until I get to the destination which is Okutama lake and Okutama dam. During this trek I also hike up a small mountain and then enjoy the view of the lake before heading back home.
