This video provides explanation of the results obtained in a DMA test. Various examples of the types of data for a number of viscoelastic materials are presented.
Summary:
1. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) can be conducted on any viscoelastic material to characterize its properties such as the storage modulus, loss modulus and damping property as functions of temperature, time and the frequency of stress or strain application.
2. These properties of the polymer can then be studied with other material variables such as the molecular architecture, crystallinity, cross-linking, glass transition, gaseous environment effects etc.
3. DMA is a fast and very accurate experimental technique for characterizing viscoelastic materials such as polymers and elastomers.
