Status update
A Detailed Project Report (DPR) was to be prepared by May 2015.
February 2016: The Bihar cabinet approved the DPR for Patna Metro prepared by RITES, with a budget of ₹16,960 crore and planned to be executed under a PPP model by 2021.
May 2016: The Patna Metro Rail project got a fresh boost when union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu reportedly assured the government of Bihar of the in-principle approval of the project within a month.
3 July 2018: Bihar chief secretary Deepak Kumar approved the proposed Patna Metro Rail's revised DPR,[2] with a revised estimated cost of ₹ 19,500 crore, including land acquisition costs.
20 Sep 2018: RITES submitted the revised DPR to the Urban Development and Housing department.
25 Sep 2018: The Bihar cabinet approved the constitution of "Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL)" as a Special-Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of the metro rail project in the capital.
28 Sep 2018: The Public Finance Committee approved the DPR of the Patna Metro Rail Project.
9 Oct 2018: The Bihar cabinet approved the DPR, after which it is to be sent to the central government for approval.
20 Nov 2018: The Central Government approved the DPR for Patna Metro.
6 Feb 2019: Patna Metro received approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB)
13 Feb 2019: The Union Cabinet approved the Patna Metro Rail Project comprising two corridors.
17 Feb 2019: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Patna's first metro rail corridor.
4 March 2019: Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited formally opened its office at Indira Bhavan.
25 Jul 2019: Patna Metro work set to start in three months.
23 Aug 2019: Drone survey started and is slated to end on 15 October.
4 Sep 2019: DMRC to oversee project execution. Work to begin by the end of 2019.
18 Nov 2019: CEG starts soil testing.
28 Feb 2020: AECOM bags consultancy contract for both corridors for the Patna Metro Project.
23 July 2020: Quality Buildcon emerges as the lowest bidder for constructing the New ISBT Depot on Line 2
31 August 2020: NCC emerges as the lowest bidder for the first 6.1 km of the route's construction (Malahi Pakri to New ISBT of Line 2)
18 September 2020: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation invites bids for the construction of the first package of Patna Metro’s Line-1.
18 September 2020: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation invites bids for the construction of the first underground package of Patna Metro’s 14.05 km
17 November 2020: Six firms submit bids for Patna Metro's substation and cabling works for 30.91 km Phase 1.
20 November 2020: Four firms submit bids to build the elevated portion of the 8 km package of Patna Metro Phase 1's 16.86 km Line 1
26 November 2020: Physical construction on Patna Metro's Phase 1 officially begins.
21 December 2020: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) invites bids for the supply and commissioning of 1200 MT of regular rails at the New ISBT Depot for Phase 1 of Patna Metro.
14 January 2021: Four bidders emerge for Patna Metro's 14.05 km underground section of Line-2.
5 February 2021: Nine firms submit bids for electrical and mechanical systems of Patna Metro's 30.91 km Phase 1
5 March 2021: Five firms submit bids for the standard-gauge ballasted track work contract of Patna Metro's New ISBT Depot
16 April 2021: Voestalpine VAE VKN India Pvt. Ltd. and Vossloh Cogifer S.A. emerge as only firms to submit bids for supplying UIC-60 turnouts and scissor crossovers for Patna Metro's Phase 1
28 April 2021: Pier work begins on Patna Metro's 6.107 km Malahi Pakri—New ISBT
