How to pipe buttercream toadstools onto cupcakes tutorial

I use my favourite American Buttercream recipe for piping:
500g butter, soft
1kg icing sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract

in a stand mixer, beat the butter with the paddle attachment for 2 minutes. Stop and scrape down the bowl with a spatula, then beat for another 2 minutes. Scrape down the bowl again and give it a good mix.
Then sift in half the icing sugar. Put it back on the mixer on low speed until fully mixed, then sift in the remaining icing sugar and vanilla. Put back on the mixer on low until combined.
Smooth out with a spatula and store in an airtight container in the fridge. The buttercream lasts for as long as the use by date on the butter.
to use, bring back to room temperarure and mix with a spatula to smooth.
