Part I: Noble House miniseries from 1988 stars Pierce Brosnan as Ian Dunross and is based on James Clavell's 1981 novel. The four-part miniseries was broadcast on NBC in February 1988 and also featured a cast including Deborah Raffin, Ben Masters, and John Rhys-Davies.

Plot: The story follows Ian Dunross, the "Tai-Pan" of a powerful Hong Kong trading company, as he navigates espionage, corporate rivalry, and potential disaster.

Production: It was executive produced by James Clavell, who also wrote the original novel, and directed by Gary Nelson.
Differences from the novel: Due to time constraints, some subplots from the book were omitted, and the timeframe was updated to the 1980s.

Trivia: Pierce Brosnan was cast in the role due to a scheduling conflict with the James Bond role being delayed.
