Went down to Rochester today for their last full siren test of this year. Since I was in a good mood today, I decided to finally stop putting it off, and record the 2001-DC atop the main fire station downtown (also known as “Rochester One” to us siren enthusiasts). Kurt and Jared were present digitally for this test, although physically, I was by myself. Shortly after getting there, I realized that you can get a building shot with this one, so I settled for that. Just after 10:02, the first quadrant was lit off, which is to the northwest of this location. Quadrant 2 followed seconds later, and you can hear the SRNB I recorded in June wind up in the distance, which is a mere 0.6 miles from this location. Swiftly after that, Quadrant 3 started, which is where this DC is. This thing threw some insane echoes off the surrounding buildings throughout the test, and is easily the loudest 2001 that I have heard to date. With the seasonal full testing done for the year, you will not see any more Rochester videos from me until next April, when they start them up again. Thanks for watching, and enjoy!


Sirens in the City of Rochester are tested on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 10AM April-September, weather permitting. From October-March, they are tested on only the first Wednesday for a shortened 1 minute test.
