Craniospinal irradiation (CSI) is utilized in the management of certain pediatric CNS tumors such as medulloblastoma, and sometimes in the management of leptomeningeal metastastic disease in adults. This involves bathing the entire craniospinal axis in a uniform dose of irradiation, and sometimes boosting involved areas to additional dose. In this talk, we cover the technique for simulation and field design for CSI, reviewing some commonly tested physics principles. (Keep in mind that this talk is the second half of the Pediatric CNS Overview lecture, so discussion is geared towards pediatric patients).
