Many people associate Victor Frankenstein and Mary Shelley’s magnum opus with the masculine vibe: Victor as a deadbeat dad who abandoned his kid for the woods. But what if he wasn’t a dad, but a MOM?

Let’s look at the classic Gothic novel (and, my favorite book, believe it or not!) through the lens of Victor as a mother, and how it might’ve been influenced by Mary Shelley’s experiences as a mother, and how her writing may be in response to sentiments she might have found around her at the time.
