As software developers, we accept that bugs are part of the job. In some cases, however, bugs are not merely inconvenient… they can be a matter of life and death.
Unfortunately, not everyone can code.
Currently, there are hundreds, if not thousands of computer languages in use across software systems, each representing a language barrier that needs to be overcome to be able to diagnose bugs and maintain these systems.
In addition, certain features in one language may not be available in another, resulting in redundancies, inconsistencies, and further unnecessary complexity.
neurUL explores the question: “How do we humans do it?”
Instead of relying on traditional artificial control structures such as “if” and “switch” statements in programming languages, it translates sensory input into behavior using the same structures and processes that are found in our nervous systems.
The result is a system that is:
▪️Human-readable
▪️Deterministic (predictable processing)
▪️Traceable from inputs to outputs
The follow-up questions hint at unprecedented possibilities:
▪️Can all software be written using the same structures and processes as our brains?
▪️Can a language that mimics biological nervous systems represent the middle ground between deterministic symbolic AI and probabilistic AI?
▪️Can anyone learn to code by only learning neurobiological structures and processes, once and for all?
▪️Can we benefit from using a natural design that has been tested, validated, and that has evolved for hundreds of millions of years?
