Taurus celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2019, and Guns & Ammo was in Brazil for the celebration. Today, Forjas Taurus (translated “Taurus Forge”) is the small-arm manufacturing business within a multi-faceted company. Located in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Taurus’ expansive and secure facility is a short flight from São Paulo, one of the largest cities.
The timing of Guns & Ammo’s visit occurred in the wake of pro-gun-rights decrees signed by current Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in 2019. This event was not only a celebration for a Taurus brand, but an insight to the country’s shifting attitude towards civilian gun ownership. To that end, Brazil’s enthusiasm for gun making is improving business for one of the world’s best-selling firearm brands.
