27 years after it's purchase by the Canadian National, many things along the old Mainline of Mid America remain totally unchanged. In this video, we follow the Canadian National's former Illinois Central mainline from Champaign to Homewood Illinois, a distance of just under 100 miles by rail. Throughout our tour we'll chase many Illinois Central-powered Canadian National freight trains up and down the line, and see many other mainline freights, Amtrak trains, local branch line action, and take a brief look at the connecting Toledo Peoria and Western Railway as well.
