A scoutship sent on a mission flown
Without coordinates, destination unknown
Locating a site to explore fairly near
The craft propelled through an atmosphere
Descending from the heavens, it came from the skies
Idle hovering idle, gravity it defies
Preparing to land on terrain in the clear
The craft touched surface with its landing gears

Emerging from the craft were the pilots in command
Standing before the ruins of a decomposed land
The sky blazing purple, seven seas flowing red
Without a population, existent life forced dead
Fallout levels rising metered readings shown at hand
Display an urgent warning radiation from the sand
Armageddon come and gone reaping surface and domain
The clouds above had thunderstorm a mist of acid rain

Puzzled were the pilots as they gazed at what they'd found
A skull lay near some fossils buried midway in the ground
They questioned one another for they knew not what to think
Examining, they spoke as if they'd found a missing link
From where they'd come, another world, a war was obsolete
They knew not of destruction and they knew not of defeat
Acquiring land without a fight more than an even break
Man destroyed himself and left a land free for the take
