A New Pairing on the Osprey Nest? - Loch of the Lowes Webcam (2025)

Описание: With the resident female osprey NC0 yet to establish a strong bond with a new mate for the season, the territory is very much up for grabs.

There have been several osprey in the mix over the last week. Initially NC0 spent time with a new male for around 4 days, but did not seem keen on mating, and no fish exchanges were observed that might have sealed the deal.

Meanwhile, the nest was getting some attention from two unringed females, one of whom NC0 chased off the nest. The other unringed female, who has a dark forehead, chest, eyebrows, a white line under her eye and a mark like a 'Cluedo' piece on the back of her head, was seen spending time on the nest with the 'new male' which NC0 failed to bond with earlier in the week.

Things move fast in osprey circles however, and with NC0's 2024 beau the 'Dark Intruder' returning to the scene on the 3rd April, it was this same unringed female who was observed on the nest with 'DI' on the morning of 4th.

'DI' wasted no time in performing a sky dance for her, before landing on the nest to get acquainted. The pair quickly relaxed and began moving sticks around together, before the unringed female began to shout for food.

The question now is will 'DI' develop this bond further with fish and possible mating, or will he seek out NC0, who hasn't been seen on territory for the last 2 and a half days?
