Upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 have taken a crucial political turn as the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) led by Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has officially aligned with the AIADMK–BJP alliance. This major development has reshaped the electoral landscape and intensified political calculations across the state.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, PMK contested in alliance with AIADMK and contested 23 constituencies, managing to secure victory in four seats. Since then, internal differences led to a split within the party, with one faction led by Dr. S. Ramadoss and the other by Anbumani Ramadoss. Recently, the Election Commission recognized the Anbumani-led faction as the official PMK, granting it rights over the party symbol and flag. This decision has significantly strengthened Anbumani’s position ahead of the elections.

As per current reports, seat-sharing talks between AIADMK, BJP, and PMK have reached an initial understanding. Out of the total 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, PMK is expected to be allocated 18 seats. Additionally, reports suggest that one Rajya Sabha seat has also been promised as part of the alliance arrangement.
