Jehovah M'kaddesh is a name for God that means "The Lord who sanctifies".
It is also known as Jehovah Mekadesh or Jehovah Mekoddishkem. The name is used twice in the Old Testament, in Exodus 31:13 and Leviticus 20:8.
It is also found in nine other verses of Scripture.
The name describes who God is (holy) and what he does (makes us holy). The word "sanctify" literally means to "set apart". In the Bible, "sanctify" implies that what is set apart is set apart to the Lord and for the Lord's use.
The name is also known as Yahweh-Mekoddishkem. Mekoddishkem comes from the Hebrew word qadash, which means "set apart, consecrated, sanctified, prepared, dedicated, hallowed, made holy".
In the Bible and even Modern-day believers are often called saints, meaning “sanctified ones,” which means that Christians are set apart for God’s intended purpose. This is true because of what Jesus has done for us!
Jehovah: This is one of the names or titles for God in some religious traditions, particularly in the Judeo-Christian tradition. It is derived from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton YHWH (Yahweh) and is often used to refer to the God of the Bible.
M'Kaddash: This word appears to be related to the Hebrew word "Mekadesh" (מְקַדֵּשׁ), which means "sanctifies" or "makes holy." In the context of religious language, it signifies the act of consecrating or setting apart something or someone as sacred or holy.
