I spent the day at Back Door so I could catch the competitors coming down the steep rock waterfall. Most drivers were choosing this section over the bypass which was a longer route that included a long sand hill.
As I was there the bottom of Back Door did get dug up and multiple race cars began getting hung up and needing to be winched out. At that point most drivers made the conservative choice to take the sand hill bypass.
Thats when I decided to hike up the canyon into resolution to a section where it was mandatory for all drivers to run that course.
