In this video, we showcase our proof of concept system that combines real-time EEG brainwave monitoring with immersive Virtual Reality (VR) to create a closed-loop neurofeedback experience aimed at supporting mental health and anxiety regulation.
Using EEG data from the F3–F4 frontal cortex electrodes, the system calculates upper-alpha asymmetry, a neural marker often associated with mood and emotional balance. This score is continuously analysed and used to dynamically adjust a VR beach environment—including lighting, ambiance, and weather—based on the user’s mental state.

Feedback loop visualized in an immersive VR world built in Panda3D
PyQt5 GUI for EEG channel selection and brightness control
Designed as a potential tool for self-regulation and mindfulness
This project was developed as part of my capstone thesis and demonstrates the potential of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) for emotional wellness, combining neuroscience, signal processing, and interactive media.
