"At this moment we are not happy at all, because he came to the Parliament without any vote base, he came from the back door to the Parliament and he came and protected the Rajapaksas. Now again he's there to protect the Rajapaksas, because we say Sri Lanka, we say we don't have dollars to get oil, we don't have dollars to get gas. But we see in the parliament, money has spoken at this moment. So we are very sad. Especially, we are very disappointed with the 225 Parliament members whom we elected and sent them to the Parliament to speak on behalf of people, which they have not done, but they have done worse. They have voted to protect themselves."

ANNOTATION: Wickremesinghe is unpopular with voters who see him as a holdover from Rajapaksa's government. Protesters chanted "Go home, Ranil."
7. Close of Sri Lanka flags
ANNOTATION: Wickremesinghe will serve the rest of Rajapaksa's term, which ends in 2024.
