Описание: With elections in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) expected in 2026, political focus in the region has shifted from demands for provincial status to concerns over land occupation, resource exploitation, and cultural erosion, according to Senge Sering, President of the Institute for Gilgit Baltistan Studies. He alleged that Pakistan and China control vast areas of land under the guise of development, denying locals revenue and decision-making powers. Sering called CPEC a “colonial tool,” claiming projects benefit foreign and military interests rather than the local population. Highlighting PoGB’s lack of constitutional status, he said the region is historically part of India, Ladakh. He urged international attention, warning that unless Pakistan withdraws, local governance, representation, and constitutional rights will remain unattainable, while media blackout continues on regional grievances.
