Our path leads us to the main square, where we pass the Portaria Town Hall and conclude our walking tour along the scenic Path of the Centaurs.

The chapel of Panagia Portarea stands as one of the most significant religious monuments in Portaria, giving the area its name. Built in the first half of the 13th century, the chapel is surrounded by history, with its murals dating back to 1581 and its intricately carved wood iconostasis constructed in the early 18th century. This historical site marks the beginning of the first settlement in the area, making it a cornerstone of local heritage.

As we admire the chapel from the outside, we are transported back in time, enveloped by an atmosphere of nostalgia. The chapel shares its yard with the church of Agios Nikolaos, which is located adjacent to it.
