Bhubaneswar, known as the 'Temple City of India' or 'Ekamra Kshetra', is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and ancient temples dating back to the 6th century.
The city is home to approximately five hundred Hindu temples, with the Lingaraj Temple being one of the largest and oldest, dedicated to Lord Shiva and built in the 11th century.
This temple features a 54-meter-high main spire and is constructed in the Kalinga architectural style, housing a self-originated linga known as the 'Swayambhu'.

The Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves, dating back to the 1st century B.C., are rock-cut architectural marvels of Jain significance and are among the most visited historical sites in the city.
These caves feature inscriptions, sculptures, and temples carved into the hillside, offering a glimpse into ancient Indian art and religion.
The Chausathi Yogini Temple, located about 13 km from the city, is a 9th-century circular shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali and is one of only four surviving Yogini temples in India.

Nature lovers can visit Nandankanan Zoological Park and Botanical Garden, which houses a diverse range of flora and fauna, including endangered species like the white tiger and the Indian elephant.
The Dhauli Giri Hills, located 14 km from the city, are home to the Dhauli Shanti Stupa, a Peace Pagoda built in memory of the Kalinga War, and offer a 3D sound-and-light show depicting the historical conflict.
