The Coalition has been the lead agency for The Way Home Continuum of Care since 2012, overseeing the local homeless response system. Their role can be likened to that of airport personnel and air traffic control, ensuring the efficient operation of direct service providers who work with individuals experiencing homelessness, similar to airlines working with passengers. The Coalition coordinates and provides resources to support these agencies while monitoring system-level data and trends. Through their efforts, the Coalition secures significant public funding, leveraging each $1 of private funding to bring in over $47 for homelessness solutions in the Houston region. Their leadership has contributed to a more than 60% decrease in overall homelessness since 2011 and has helped place over 28,000 people into permanent housing programs since 2012.
