After graduating from high school at the age of 16, Legend attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he roommate introduced him to Kanye West, a then unknown producer who was trying to launch his own rap career. West hired Legend to sing on a number of tracks. This would be the beginning of a music career that would see Legend come into his with a number of chart topping albums. In this interview from 2003 he talks about the role that storytelling plays in his music, his childhood spent in a church choir and what it was like to be praised by his song-writing hero Stevie Wonder.
